Classes

High Drive Dog Co Classes are THE BEST!

This is not your same-old, same-old dog training experience – this is top-tier, knock your socks off training in a fun, supportive environment that you and your dog will look forward to each week! It’s 2500 square feet of training space, with wall to wall 3/4″ recycled rubber flooring, dedicated to teaching dogs and their people how to get the most out of life together.

The results speak for themselves: a true partnership with your dog where she listens and responds with one command (in a normal tone of voice) and you both learn to build on it with distance, distraction, and duration. Want to see her hold a sit while a squirrel walks by and you’re 20 feet away? How about pizza deliveries to your home reimagined with a dog that knows “Place”: instead of barking and jumping when the doorbell rings, your dog runs to “place”, lies down, and holds position as you open the door, pay the person, take the pizza to the kitchen, and then release and praise your dog!

It’s not magic, it’s training. It’s giving your dog a job in everyday life. It’s using their brains! That thing your dog does that you wish she didn’t – it’s probably a bad habit she picked up because she needs something to do, and we just need to give her better habits. No one (canine or human) comes out of the womb automatically understanding what to do for a successful life, and it’s our job to teach our dogs how to best live with us. High Drive Dog Co training teaches you to meaningfully communicate with your dog in a way they understand, to build a partnership and quality of life the two of you will cherish for years to come. Happy dog, happy human…the perfect combo!

If you aren’t sure which class to take, just give us a call or fill out the contact form. Or maybe you just want to talk to us before deciding if we are a good fit for you and your dog. No problem either way, we love to talk dogs & training and are always happy to help.

Also, in case you think your dog is too unruly for a class or maybe you’ve been kicked out of a class elsewhere – this is the place for you! While some dogs may have a more easygoing personality than others, no dog is beyond learning, and you will never be sent away from High Drive Dog Co training because your dog is too bad. The way we see it, if we’re going to call ourselves dog trainers, we should be able to work with all dogs! Give us a call to discuss your situation, and we’ll tell you what class is right for you.

This is where the amazing stuff really starts to happen! Intermediate work is all about taking that foundation and adding the three Ds: Distance, Distraction, and Duration. Your dog will learn how to hold position – sit, down, place – while you walk away; they’ll learn how to hold these positions while other people come up to greet you both; they’ll learn to hold these positions for longer periods of time. Additionally we’ll build distance going to place, start long line work on recall, and introduce the process toward off leash heeling – all while learning to build and utilize your dog’s drive to cement these behaviors. Sit in Motion and Down in Motion will be introduced. Seeing it all come together and the wheels start turning in your dog’s brain is the most fun of all.

This is the class for those dogs who freak out on leash when seeing other dogs or bikes, cars, etc. We affectionately call them Tasmanian devils, and even if your experience isn’t quite that bad, we’re here to tell you good news: you don’t have to live with it! In this class you will learn the tools and techniques to stop this cycle and your dog will learn replacement behavior you will love. Our OLR classes succeed where so many others fail because we evaluate each dog as an individual, first determining the reason for the reactivity, then using behavioral science to influence the behavior so you end up with less of the little devil and more of the dog you love. If you aren’t sure if this is the right class for you, give us a call or shoot us an email so we can discuss what’s going on.
